Spread The Love

Spread The Love

February 14th, otherwise known as Valentine’s Day… A day loved by some and despised by others, but hate it or love it, it's going to happen every year. So we’ve decided to embrace it and make it our goal to spread as much love as possible on Valentine's Day and every day.

Just to be clear we’re not talking about giant love heart holding teddy bears or cheesy Hallmark cards. We’re talking about a real 'salt of the earth' type appreciation for the things & people in our life that bring us love & happiness, starting with ourselves!

‘Self-Love’ often preached about but not often practised, if you’re anything like us (and the majority of the population) you’ve probably experienced self-doubt. So right now we’re asking you to take a moment, just a couple of seconds, to thank your self for something & to send that body & brain of yours some self-love and appreciation!

Ours went something like this (internal voice speaking)...‘Hi Self, I just wanted to thank you for getting me through that gym glass this morning, it nearly killed me but I did it, oh and just FYI, I really do love you, thanks for being you.’

Your turn….

Here are some other ways you can spread some self-love;

-Go and do something for yourself, just for you & no one else (run a bath, put a face mask on, go for a swim, get that massage or crack that special bottle of wine).

-We’ve said it before & we’ll say it again… Try meditating, there are heaps of user-friendly beginner apps out there (like Smiling Mind or Head Space).

-And lastly, release some endorphins through exercise!

 “Improved self-esteem is a key psychological benefit of regular physical activity. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain, endorphins also trigger a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine.”

Lots of single humans despise this day because it reminds them that they are single, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being single – and we’re pretty sure that you’ve all got some friends, family members, pets or even some work colleague’s that think you’re amazing and are probably craving some love themselves.

Again, we’re going to ask you to take a moment, but this time it's to make someone else's day. Tell someone your favourite thing about them, send them a message if they’re not sitting next to you, who knows, for you this could just be telling the barista at your regular coffee shop that they make the best coffee ever! Not one for words? No worries, make a promise to yourself that you’ll chuck a big old smile at everyone you walk by today!

And for those of you who are loved up, soak that in, and make sure that lucky person knows how much you care about them. Short on cash? Perfect (we’re serious), anyone can buy a gift, but only you know how to cook that person their favourite dinner – take it down to the beach with a picnic rug and a portable speaker and you’ve got yourself a magical night.

Another point for the relationship-ees amongst us, don’t forget that people have different ways of expressing themselves – here’s some information on ‘The 5 Languages of Love – there’s even a little quiz you can take to figure out which language you use.

So that’s it from us for today, we hope this little blog has brought some happiness to your day! Oh and we love you for reading it!

Happy Valentine's Day from the We Are Feel Good Inc. team.
