Kakadu Plum Skin Care & Why We Love it

The benefits of Kakadu Plum - Where do we start? A 'Feel Good' favourite, this wonderfruit is found in our Kakadu Plum Body Milk, Sensitive Body Milk, and now Kakadu Plum Sunscreen SPF 50+.

So why have we fallen so in love with this tiny but mighty fruit? To begin with, the Kakadu Plum is a native Australian fruit that has been harvested and used for its powerful nutritional and medicinal benefits by Aboriginal communities for thousands of years.

Identified as the richest known source of natural Vitamin C, Kakadu Plums are rich in antioxidants meaning they protect the skin and fight off free radical damage caused by environmental factors such as sun exposure and pollution. This can also help to stimulate the repair of your skin by promoting the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and soothing inflammatory skin disorders.

Natural Vitamin C is an essential antioxidant our body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body's healing process. When used as a topical vitamin, Vitamin C promotes skin radiance, improves free radical damage, acts as a natural anti inflammatory, and can even reduce dark circles. This antioxidant protecting fruit does not contain ascorbic acid, which is synthetic Vitamin C that is often found in products and supplements.

According to the Northern Australia Aboriginal Kakadu Plum Alliance (NAAKPA), “Kakadu Plums are an excellent source of phenolic acid such as the natural nutrient gallic acid and active nutrient ellagic acid, which are believed to repair damaged skin and reduce collagen breakdown. With more ellagic and gallic acid than berries, Kakadu Plums have been found to contain compounds which reduce the skin's inflammatory response to UV light.” This makes Kakadu Plum the perfect addition to our latest SPF 50+ sunscreen lotion... like an SPF with skin care benefits!
