Dry Skin Hacks – 5 Tips On How to Get Rid of Dry Skin.

As you settle into the change of season and the cooler weather that Autumn brings it is important to check in on your skin routine. If you’re anything like us, a change in weather often brings about a change in your skin, in particular, it’s moisture levels.

So what can you do at home to avoid or restore dry skin?

Here are our Top 5 Tips On How to Get Rid of Dry Skin during Autumn.

1. Take the ‘coolest’ shower you can.

Yep, you read that right, it’s time to get ‘cool’ in the shower. Hot showers are very enjoyable, but they’re not great for your skin. If you can, go easy on the hot tap, and have a warmish shower (or as warm/cold as you can handle).

2. Moisturise daily.

Especially straight after a hot shower!

And when you’re picking a moisturiser, look for hydrating ingredients like plant oils, aloe vera, macadamia oil, shea butter, glycerin, soy, hyaluronic acid and vitamins B & E.

3. Avoid soap!

If you have dry skin should avoid using soap (except for when you’re washing your hands for hygienic reasons i.e. to stop the spread of COVID-19, before you cook, after going to the toilet).

There is plenty of soap-free body washes out there, we’d also recommend that you go for ‘Fragrance-free’ as many (not all) fragrances contain harsh chemicals.

4. Diet.

No, we’re not saying go on a diet, we’re saying add some ‘skin-healing’ foods to your diet. As mentioned above in Tip No.3, your skin has a natural /fatty lipid barrier to help keep moisture in and keep environmental pollution out. Foods that are high in Omega 3,6 & 9 (especially Omega 3) are great for helping your skin keep this natural barrier strong & healthy, like avocado, nuts, fish, flaxseed (oil or powder), LSA.

5. And finally, DRINK WATER.
